Description The Graphic Designer role will join Glen Raven’s creative shared services team, working across the portfolio of brands, but will be primarily assigned to the well-known consumer facing Sunbrella brand, which carries a high design aesthetic and requires elevated design experience. This role may also complete work for the parent company brand – Glen Raven, as well as the Trivantage brand, the company’s top-tier distribution company in the textile industry. This role carries a high degree of refinement, accuracy, attention to detail, and consistency is paramount. The graphic designer will work independently and collaboratively with the Creative Director & Art Director, Production Designers and Marketing Managers on a wide mix of creative initiatives for B2B and D2C audiences. Responsibilities include interpreting creative briefs, adhering to brand standards and requirements, collaborative design-thinking with the Art Director, and generating sophisticated creative ideas that align with the Sunbrella brand vision, marketing strategies, and objectives.
The Graphic Designer will also exercise strong written and verbal communication skills, and project & time management skills with a comfortability to problem solve and creatively negotiate with their partners to arrive at the best go-to-market approach.
- This is a contract 1099 role, with an expected length of 6 months with possible extension**
This would be part time 25 hours per week. Responsibilities - Responsible for interpreting creative briefs, determining design requirements, and fostering alignment with Creative Director and Art Director, Production Designer, Marketing Manager, Traffic & Production Management, and Leadership as needed.
- Efficiently and effectively conceptualizes visual design, presents and sells their ideas to internal stakeholders.
- Creates original ideas and pieces, including concepts, illustrations, renders, and comps.
- Partners with copywriters on end-to-end creative solutions.
- Partner with print & sampling managers to write specs for physically produced marketing tools.
- Receives feedback without bias, focusing revisions to deliver compelling design solutions.
- Designs for print, digital, retail, tradeshows and emerging media types, testing design against in-field requirements.
- Applies design insight and leadership to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Stays privy to industry research and trends, and can translate into commercial product solutions.
- Actively participates in and/or leads design discussions.
- Maintains high standards for brand accuracy and ensures only the best work is released.
- Based on skillset, the ability to fill-in or function as a multi-disciplinary creator (i.e. photographer, videographer, animator, retoucher, etc.).
- Maintains a solid understanding of business and customer audiences through relevant industry exposure, training, and events.
- Disciplined in interpreting and exercising creative integrity from established brand books and guidelines.
Education And Experience - Degree in Design, Fine Arts or related field. Experience in the home and/or industrial categories is a plus.
- 5-10 years professional design experience
- A keen eye for aesthetics and details
- Significant understanding of design principals, usability, typography, and industry standards
- Design-thinking and troubleshooting
- Able to work with dynamic teams, both ingroup and external
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, including project management software experience.
- Confidence to lead design conversations and present ideas
- The ability to keep a cool head under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to work on multiple projects at one time
- High levels of initiative and resourcefulness
- Extensive knowledge and experience with industry tools and software
