Entry-Level Bookkeeper - Sacramento, CA

Compensation: $23 - $26 per hour

Full-time and On-site 

Overview: Nexus HR is looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to join our Finance Department. This entry-level role is an excellent opportunity for someone eager to begin their career in accounting and grow within a supportive environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational skills, attention to accuracy in financial record-keeping, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

About the Job:

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for ensuring that all financial data is accurately recorded, organized, and maintained. The role requires managing day-to-day accounting tasks, assisting with reconciliations, and ensuring timely communication with vendors, clients, and internal teams. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-driven, and committed to meeting deadlines while maintaining professional interactions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform accurate and timely data entry of financial transactions.

  • Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing, vendor payments, and collection calls.

  • Conduct credit card and bank reconciliations.

  • Monitor and manage incoming emails to ensure timely responses and follow-ups.

  • Ensure timely and professional communication with clients, vendors, and internal staff.

  • Assist with maintaining accurate financial records and supporting documentation.

  • Collaborate with the team to improve processes and maintain compliance with financial policies.

Qualifications :

  • Entry-level position; prior bookkeeping experience is a plus.

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance is a plus.

  • An active California Driver’s License required.

  • Proficiency in using QuickBooks and other accounting software.

  • Customer collection call experience is a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
