The Director of Safety (DOS) is a proven field leader responsible for executing the efforts of an active and successful safety culture including inspections, investigations, safety meetings and an overall corporate safety and health program.
Ensures conformance with all safety requirements including conducting inspections and orientations, creating and implementing project specific and corporate safety plans, report metrics and incident investigations.
Train, mentor and coach field operations team and office team in KCCares company-wide safety training program and culture
Evaluate project safety performance and provide documentation and guidance on trends, corrective action and loss rates
Maintain all OSHA logs
Research, procure and distribute PPE for all Company employees including use training and documentation on when replacements are necessary
On-site field supervision (fill-in) as needed
Represents the Company at industry affiliated associations and events
Exhibit personal behavior that demonstrates commitment to leadership and compliance in safety
Present departmental status, goals and objectives in companywide update meetings
Read and understand project drawings and other project materials to assist in identifying potential safety hazards and assist in the strategic plan to avoid or proactively address them.
Actively participate in EOS L10 meetings and complete quarterly rocks
Represent KCC in the Citadel National Construction safety group

Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management, Occupational Safety or Industrial Safety
30-hour OSHA trained
OSHA Competent person trained
CPR/AED/BBP and First Aid training
8+ years experience as a safety associate in the construction industry
145-Hour OSHA trained (recommended)
OSHA 500 (recommended)
CHST/CSP Certification (recommended)
ASHE certification (recommended)
E-RAILSAFE certification (recommended)
Bilingual in Spanish (recommended)

is capable of driving short and long distances to project sites, capable of walking project sites that may include climbing stairs, ladders, scaffolding, suspended staging and varying heights. Must be able to work in varying weather conditions and lift to weights up to 50 lbs. Occasional travel to out of town project sites via automobile or airplane.
